Providing a means of healing for children and youth through horsemanship, love and compassion "
OUR HISTORY
Rising Son Youth Ranch began long before August of 2004. It began when God planted the love of horses in Cindy Prindle's heart at a very young age. It began in God's heart, and He has sown the seed in our hearts so we may be instruments of His Love and grace.
In August of 2004, God began to reap the harvest of the seed's He had sown. Randy and Cindy Prindle heard a radio program about a youth ranch in Oregon that was using rescued horses to minister to and rescue abused and emotionally disturbed children. This program sparked the flame that would be fanned into Rising Son Youth Ranch. Randy and Cindy began to pray for guidance and wisdom on how to begin a similar work right here in the heartland of our country, in St Joseph , Missouri .

The Lord soon began to open doors and hearts. 3 horses were donated. Help was provided to establish a non-profit organization. Funds were donated for upkeep and supplies. Randy & Cindy's church family rallied around them; helping as they could and as God guided them to. Some helped to fix up the barn, some helped with paperwork, some helped trucking horses, some are prayer warriors and faithfully lift us up before the Lord. Every one is a blessing and encouragement.

But the Lord had bigger plans than we thought and we were soon joined in the work by Cindy's parents, Bert and Doris Lambert. They felt God's call to come and be volunteer maintenance personnel. They packed up their house in Harmony, Maine and moved all the way to Missouri to live on the ranch and assist the work where ever possible.
A donation was received in the fall of 2005 for a better suited property. We purchased 20 acres in south St Joseph with housing for the 2 families, a barn, garage, fenced in pastures and lots of potential.(click here to see photo)
We added a riding arena in the spring of 2006 and had our Grand Opening on May 13. Our first riding season we had 6 horses and 8 regular students. In 2007, we had 10 horses and 8 regular students, and for the 2008 riding season, we more than tripled our student enrollment with 25 regular students and 12 horses. In the Fall of 2008, we decided 12 horses were just a bit much, and even though we love them all, we decided to retire several of them. So we started our 2009 season with 8 horses.
In the 2009 riding season, we had 20 regular students each week and we saw much improvement in each one. After closing for the 2009 season, Bert and Doris Lambert announced that it was time for them to retire. They packed up their household and moved back to Florida to enjoy the sun and surf.
2010 brought Scott, Siobhan and Garrett Jackson to the ranch, which brought us 2 additional teachers and an expanded program. Many of our students who never rode alone without help learned to do just that, it was amazing to watch! We are sorry to relate that as of Sept. 2010, the Jacksons decided to move on. As of the fall of 2010, we are seeking God's will for their replacements. Please pray for God's Will and Guidance.
