Training Glory On May 1, 2006, a blond palomino filly was born here at RSYR whom we named Glory! She was a joy and answer to our prayers to raise our own therapy horses. The next spring when she was 1 year old, we were told that Glory had contracted a virus that was affecting the developement of her joints. Then came 2 years of prayer and care, not knowing if we would ever be able to ride her. But, the spring of 2010 brought Great news! Glory was ready to bear weight! Praise the Lord with us as we watch her become the wonderful therapy horse we know she was born to be! |
First she learned lessons on the lunge line. Then she tried the saddle for the first time! She was very curious about that saddle. But she was sure she didn't like it when she started moving! She settled down pretty quickly. Then, Sam, our trainer, put some weight on the saddle. She hopped up and down so Glory wouldn't spook. Then she stood in the stirrup and leaned over the saddle. Pretty soon she was astride Glory. But Glory didn't understand about moving forward. It wasn't too long before she was moving all around the ring. And then she was trotting! She accepted everything very easily with her gentle, willing nature. She soon looked like she felt she was doing what she was born to do.
Praise God with us for this remarkable horse! |
